Biography

Let me introduce myself. Prior to my current professional piscatorial pursuit, I spent 27 years in the Television Broadcast Industry, which concluded in 1992. Following much soul searching (about 30 seconds worth), and with a little jingle in my pocket, I decided to turn this opportunity and my passion for flyfishing, into a career.

To date I have chased Kamloops trout and the odd Bonefish with a fly rod for 39 years, the last 5 as a professional guide.

I dabble at writing, a weekly flyfishing column, "Of Feathers & Fins", for the "Kamloops Daily News" and under the same by-line for a major outdoor web site "The BC Adventure Network" and Sea to Sky's Publications "The Interiors Outdoor Adventure Journal". I still play at television with a Micro series "Of Feathers & Fins" a 10 episodes series on Stillwater Tactics. I am partners with and produce Brian Chan's instructional video series "Flyfishing Strategies for Stillwaters". I am also on the Pro-Staff for Lamiglas.

I do not and will not purport to be an expert. I have only known two flyfishers I would call experts, Jack Shaw and the late Heber Smith, pioneers in flyfishing for Kamloops trout. In flyfishing one should never stop learning, or typically being unceremoniously taught; by the fish we pursue, the invertebrates they pursue, and the weather that frequently pursues us! Being humbled on more than one occasion I think I have learned a little and have been blessed by a circle of quality fly-fisher pals who have taught me more than I could ever teach them. Thus armed, hopefully I can pass along to you, on the BC Adventure Network, some of these lessons learned as tips or how to's.
